Andie Rathbone, born Andrew Rathbone around 1969 in Chester, England, joined Mansun as drummer in August 1996, bringing precision and drive to their rhythm section through the band’s final years until 2003. Initially dismissing Mansun as “Britpop shite,” he signed on after hearing “Wide Open Space,” debuting on TFI Friday despite a travel mishap. His dynamic style re-recorded drums on Attack of the Grey Lantern (1997), adding punch to hits like “Taxloss,” and grounded the heavier live sound of Six (1998), including tracks like “Legacy.”
Post-Mansun, Rathbone formed short-lived Seraphim with Jonti, played in The Jokers, Amsterdam, a Blondie tribute (Into the Bleach), and Chester supergroup World Upside Down.
He expressed reunion interest in 2010-2011 but accepted it required all members.
